Cylinder gasket
The cylinder gasket, also known as the cylinder liner, is located between the cylinder head and the cylinder block, and its function is to fill the microscopic pores between the cylinder head and the cylinder head, to ensure good sealing at the joint surface, and then to ensure the sealing of the combustion chamber, to prevent air leakage and water jacket water leakage. According to the different materials, cylinder gaskets can be divided into metal-asbestos gaskets, metal-composite gaskets and all-metal gaskets.
Functions, working conditions and requirements of cylinder gaskets
The cylinder gasket is a seal between the top surface of the block and the bottom surface of the cylinder head. Its function is to keep the cylinder seal from leaking, and to keep the coolant and oil flowing from the body to the cylinder head from leaking. The cylinder gasket is subjected to the pressure caused by tightening the cylinder head bolt, and is subjected to the high temperature and high pressure of the combustion gas in the cylinder, as well as the corrosion of the oil and coolant.
The cylinder gasket should have sufficient strength and be resistant to pressure, heat and corrosion. In addition, there is a need for a certain degree of elasticity to compensate for the roughness and unevenness of the top surface of the body and the bottom surface of the cylinder head, as well as the deformation of the cylinder head when the engine is working.
Classification and structure of cylinder gaskets
According to the different materials used, cylinder gaskets can be divided into metal-asbestos gaskets, metal-composite gaskets and all-metal gaskets. Metal-composite gaskets and all-metal gaskets are asbestos-free cylinder gaskets, because there is no asbestos sandwich, which can eliminate the generation of air bags in the gasket, but also reduce industrial pollution, is the current development direction.
Metal-asbestos gasket
The metal-asbestos gasket is based on asbestos and is covered with copper or steel. Another kind of metal - asbestos gasket is made of perforated steel plate as the skeleton, covered with asbestos and adhesive pressing. All metal-asbestos gaskets are sheet-lined around cylinder holes, coolant holes and oil holes. In order to prevent high-temperature gas from ablating the gasket, a metal frame reinforcing ring can also be placed in the metal cladding edge. The metal-asbestos gasket has good elasticity and heat resistance and can be reused many times. If the asbestos sheet is impregnated in a heat-resistant adhesive, the strength of the cylinder gasket can be increased.
Metal-composite liner
The metal composite liner is a new type of composite material that is heat-resistant, pressure-resistant and corrosion-resistant on both sides of the steel plate, and is wrapped with stainless steel leather around the cylinder holes, coolant holes and oil holes.
Metal gasket
The metal liner has high strength and strong corrosion resistance, and is mostly used in the engine with higher degree of strengthening. High quality aluminum sheet cylinder liner, coolant hole sealed with rubber ring. Figure 2-c shows the structure of the stainless steel laminated cylinder liner, and the coolant holes are also sealed with rubber rings.
