Cross universal joint removal method
The method of removing the cross universal joint is:
1. Lift the front end of the vehicle with a jack. Place the jack at the front of the frame for stability. Drain transmission fluid to prevent leakage. Fill the transmission plug;
2. Prepare a container for the fluid and disconnect the drain plug of the transmission. Ensure the integrity of the drive shaft assembly by creating reference marks. Remove the mounting clamp or bolt to drive the drive shaft;
3. Remove the drive shaft from the transmission by removing the shackles. Secure the bearing cover with tape for the needle roller bearing to prevent collision. Stabilized in the auxiliary drive shaft. The tape was deleted. Remove the bearing from the yoke through the dismounting ring;
4, use different sizes of sockets and vise provided by the lever to keep the bearing cover away from the yoke. Use the pliers to push the lid onto the assembly. Turn the drive shaft around the vice and repeat the previous process at the other end;
5, will be from the two yoke and drive shaft of the universal joint. Remove all dirt and debris from the entire drive shaft assembly to ensure it is completely clean. Apply a small amount of grease to the replacement cover. Insert the bearing cover part into the yoke and replace the bearing cover;
6. Install the universal joint into the cover. Partially insert opposing caps. Line up the universals and push the cover into place with a press. Insert the buckle. Position the drive shaft. Make sure the yoke is properly aligned with the drive shaft.
