The function of the oil pump is to raise the oil to a certain pressure, and force the ground pressure to the moving surface of the engine parts to form an oil film, which provides a reliable working environment for the pressure elements.
The structure of oil pump can be divided into two categories: gear type and rotor type. Gear type oil pump is divided into internal gear type and external gear type, generally referred to as the latter gear type oil pump. Gear type oil pump has the characteristics of reliable operation, simple structure, convenient manufacture and high pump pressure, so it is widely used.
The working principle of the oil pump is to use the volume change to change the low pressure oil into high pressure oil, so it is also called the positive displacement oil pump. When the engine is working, the drive gear on the camshaft drives the transmission gear of the oil pump, so that the drive gear fixed on the drive gear shaft rotates, thereby driving the driven gear to reverse rotate, and the oil is sent from the oil inlet cavity along the backlash and the pump wall into the oil outlet cavity. This creates a low pressure at the inlet chamber, which creates suction to draw the oil from the oil pan into the chamber. With the continuous rotation of the driving gear and driven gear, the oil is constantly pressed to the desired position.
The displacement of the oil pump can be divided into two kinds: constant displacement and variable displacement. The output pressure of the constant displacement oil pump increases with the increase of the engine speed, and the variable displacement oil pump can adjust the oil pressure, reduce the output power, reduce the resistance and reduce the fuel consumption under the condition of ensuring the oil pressure.
If the oil pump fails, such as the oil pressure is not enough to display the oil pressure alarm and so on, it will lead to abnormal wear of the engine moving parts due to insufficient lubrication, the pressure elements cannot reach the normal working environment, and the engine failure light is abnormal, which may seriously lead to engine damage.
Working principle of oil pump
The working principle of the oil pump is that when the engine is working, the drive gear on the camshaft rotates with the drive gear of the oil pump, and then drives the drive gear fixed on the drive gear shaft to rotate, so as to send the oil from the oil inlet cavity along the backlash and the pump wall to the oil outlet cavity. This rotation process creates a low pressure at the inlet chamber, creating suction that draws the oil from the oil pan into the chamber. Due to the continuous rotation of the main and driven gears, the oil can be continuously pressed to the required part. According to the structure of the oil pump can be divided into gear type and rotor type two categories, which gear type oil pump can be subdivided into external gear type and internal gear type.
The working principle of the internal gear type oil pump is similar to the above, and it is also through the drive gear on the camshaft to rotate the drive gear fixed on the drive gear shaft, driving the driven gear to rotate in the opposite direction, and the oil is sent from the oil inlet cavity along the backlash and the pump wall to the oil outlet cavity. Low pressure suction is formed at the inlet of the oil chamber, and the oil in the oil pan is sucked into the oil chamber. Because the main and driven gears are constantly rotating, the oil is constantly pressed to the required part.
The working principle of the motor oil pump is driven by the motor to drive the gear or rotor in the pump body to rotate, so that the oil is sent from the oil inlet chamber along the backlash and the pump wall to the oil outlet chamber. The advantage of the motor oil pump is that the pressure and flow of the oil can be controlled by adjusting the speed of the motor, which is suitable for occasions where the lubrication system needs to be precisely controlled.
