Are the front brake discs the same as the rear brake discs?
The front brake disc and the rear brake disc are not the same, the front brake disc and the rear brake disc each play an important role in the braking system of the vehicle, and there are significant differences between them. First of all, when the driver presses the brake pedal, due to the role of inertia, the front of the vehicle will press down, and the rear will tilt up. This phenomenon causes the front tire to experience greater pressure during braking. As a result, the front brake discs need to withstand more braking force to ensure that the car can stop quickly and smoothly. This also means that the front brake discs need to be designed and manufactured with higher strength and wear resistance.
Secondly, the role of the rear brake disc in emergency braking is different from that of the front brake disc. Since the front of the car presses down on the ground during braking, the rear wheels lift up accordingly. At this time, the contact force between the rear wheel and the ground (that is, the grip) is reduced, so there is no need for as much braking force as the front wheel. However, the rear brake disc still needs to have a certain braking capability to ensure that the vehicle can safely stop in a variety of road conditions and driving conditions.
In addition, the front brake disc is usually larger than the rear brake disc, because the front wheels require more braking force to ensure that the vehicle can stop quickly and smoothly. In the emergency braking, because the front part of the body is forced down to the ground, the rear wheel will lift up, then the contact force between the rear wheel and the ground (that is, the grip) is not as large as the front wheel, so it does not need so much braking force.
In short, the role of the front brake disc and the rear brake disc in the braking process is different, the main difference is that they withstand the braking force and wear resistance requirements. This design ensures effective and safe braking in all driving conditions.
Is it normal for the front brake disc to be hot
The front brake disc is hot to a certain extent is normal, but if the temperature is too high it may indicate a problem.
When the normal brake system works, the friction between the brake pad and the brake disc will generate heat, so it is normal for the brake disc to heat up. Especially after frequent braking or sudden braking, the heating phenomenon of the brake disc will be more obvious. However, if the temperature of the brake disc exceeds the normal range and becomes overheated or even hot, it may indicate that there is an abnormal situation. These abnormal conditions may include poor return of the brake pump, failure of the brake system components, and the brake disc and brake pads are not completely separated. These problems may lead to excessive heating of the brake disc, which needs timely maintenance to avoid safety hazards.
Therefore, if you find that the front brake disc is hot, you can observe it for a period of time. If the temperature continues to be too high or there are other abnormal phenomena (such as abnormal braking, brake effect decline, etc.), you should contact maintenance personnel in time for inspection and maintenance.
The reasons for the serious wear of the front brake disc  compared with the rear brake disc mainly include the design layout of the vehicle, uneven mass distribution between the front and rear, and mass transfer during braking.
Vehicle design layout: Most cars (including urban SUVs) adopt a front-front-drive layout, in which the engine, transmission, transaxle and other major components and total Chengdu are installed in the front half of the car. This arrangement results in uneven mass distribution in the front and rear of the car, usually reaching a ratio of 55:45 or 60:40. Since the front wheels bear more weight, they naturally bear more braking force, which determines that the front wheel braking system of the vehicle must be stronger than the rear wheel.
Uneven front and rear mass distribution: Due to the uneven front and rear mass distribution of the vehicle, the front wheels need to bear more braking force. In order to make the front wheel have more braking force, it is necessary to make the brake pads and brake discs of the front wheel larger. This design makes the brake disc size of the front wheel usually 15~30mm larger than that of the rear wheel, in order to increase the torque and braking effect
Mass transfer during braking: when the car is braking, although the wheel has slowed down until it stops, because the body and the wheel are flexibly connected, the body still continues to move forward under the action of inertia, so that the center of gravity of the car is offset forward. This phenomenon is called the brake mass transfer of the vehicle. The car will have an extra part of the mass added to the front wheel when braking, and the faster the speed, the more violent the braking, the greater the mass transfer, the greater the load on the front wheel. Therefore, in order to adapt to this increase in load, the braking force of the front wheel increases accordingly, so it is necessary to use a larger size of brake pads and brake discs.
In summary, due to the design layout of the vehicle, the uneven mass distribution in the front and rear and the mass transfer during braking, the front brake disc is more seriously worn than the rear brake disc. This design is to ensure that the front wheels can provide sufficient braking force during braking to maintain the stability and safety of the vehicle.
