The function of the oil gauge is to measure the height of the static liquid level of the oil, so as to reflect whether the oil stock of the starting motor is in a reasonable range.
Conventional oil gauges have obvious upper and lower limits, as long as you ensure that the detected oil level is between the upper and lower levels. It would be best if it was in the middle. In this need to note that the oil is not the more the better, the higher the oil level, in fact, the greater the resistance of the engine (because the crankshaft is the need to keep stirring the oil pan oil to achieve splash lubrication), ideally, the liquid level can be kept in the middle position slightly lower, at this time the engine resistance is the lowest fuel consumption, while the lubrication performance can remain stable.
Materials
Since there is a turning path in the dipstick insertion hole, it is required that the deformation of the dipstick insertion can bounce back when it is drawn out. For this reason, the material of the dipstick is generally made of annealed 65Mn steel plate of 0.8mm thickness cut into 327mm×5mm steel bars. One end of the steel bar is made for assembly holes, the other end of the head is warped, and the middle two places are folded and pressed, and then quenching and tempering heat treatment.
Due to the sensitivity of 65Mn steel to overheating, there are quenching cracks and temper brittleness. In order to reduce the thermal stress and tissue stress caused by the overheat of the dipstick, resulting in quenching, tempering deformation and cracking, a manufacturer uses salt bath heating (860 ℃) quenching, 250 ℃ low temperature tempering heat treatment process. However, 65Mn steel through salt bath quenching to make the dipstick surface high temperature corrosion, there are serious corrosion pitting, storage 48h, the surface began to rust, not only affect the appearance of the product quality, but also bring pollution to the lubricating oil.
Proper use
The correct use of the oil gauge: there are a large number of engines, because the driver does not pay attention to the inspection of the oil gauge or cannot correctly use the oil gauge to cause tile burning accidents, resulting in the disintegration of the engine and suffering serious economic losses.
The oil gauge is most correctly checked at rest:
(1) After a night or half an hour of parking, look at the oil gauge must see the correct oil level position, look at the oil gauge can not look at one side, but both sides should look, to the less side, not sure when the clean and then look, only look at one side sometimes because the oil on the wall of the pipe attached to the ruler will cause an illusion.
(2) Under normal circumstances, you can not relax, and check the oil gauge once or twice a day.
(3) Under abnormal circumstances, including reduced engine sealing performance, increased oil loss or internal leakage and failure without treatment, it is necessary to check frequently, lack of it will be added, oil in the engine is like human blood can not have the slightest carelessness.
(4) After the failure to check the oil gauge, such as internal damage, etc., should be checked in time.
(5) Look at the oil gauge not only to see the amount but also pay attention to the quality change.
(6) Alert to the oil gauge failure: the most common fault is the oil gauge sinking and oil gauge rising. Sinking: Because the upper limit of the oil gauge is damaged or worn, and the oil gauge is not repaired in time, it will make the oil not add enough to the scale line, resulting in an illusion and prone to accidents; Rise: some models of oil gauge tube can be removed, and the installation is not in place, will make the oil gauge rise, will cause more oil, in short, pay more attention.
