Intake manifold pressure sensor structure
Because there is an amplifier circuit inside the manifold pressure sensor, it needs a total of three wires of the power line, the ground line and the signal output line, which correspondingly have three terminals on the wiring terminals, respectively, the power terminal (Vcc), the ground terminal (E) and the signal output terminal (PIM), and the three terminals are connected to the control computer ECU through the wire connector and the wire.
In order to reduce the vibration of the internal electronic components of the intake manifold pressure sensor, it is usually installed in a position where the vibration of the vehicle is relatively small, and above the intake air main to prevent gas from the intake manifold from invading the pressure sensor. In addition, the intake manifold pressure sensor accepts the intake pipe pressure from below to prevent the signal sensing part from being contaminated, so the intake pipe gas collected from the intake manifold near the throttle through the rubber tube is accessed from the lower end of the manifold pressure sensor.

When viewing, simply find the rubber hose from the intake manifold near the throttle end to find the manifold pressure sensor on the car. First, with the ignition lock closed, check that the intake manifold pressure sensor wire connector is well connected and the rubber hose is off. Then start the engine to see if the rubber hose is not tightly sealed and leaky
2. Instrument testing
(1) Turn ON the ignition switch (ON), and test the voltage value between the terminal Vcc and E2 with the DC voltage stop of the multimeter (DCV-20). The voltage value is the power supply voltage value added by the ECU to the manifold pressure sensor. The normal value should be: Between 4.5 and 5.5V, if the value is incorrect, you should check the battery voltage or the connection between the wires, sometimes the problem may also be in the control computer ECU.
(2) Turn ON the ignition switch (ON position), and pull the vacuum rubber hose from the intake manifold pressure sensor, so that the intake of the intake manifold pressure sensor is connected to the atmosphere, then test the terminal output voltage signal (the voltage value between PIM and the ground wire E2), the normal value is: Between 3.3 and 3.9V, if the output voltage is too high or too low, it indicates that the intake manifold pressure sensor is faulty and should be replaced.
(3) Turn ON the ignition switch (ON position), remove the vacuum rubber hose on the intake manifold pressure sensor, apply different negative pressure (vacuum degree) to the intake of the manifold pressure sensor with a handheld vacuum pump, and test the voltage value between the wiring terminal transmission voltage signal PIM and the ground wire E2 while applying pressure. The voltage value should increase linearly with the growth of the applied negative pressure, otherwise, it indicates that the signal detection circuit in the sensor is faulty and should be replaced.
Where is the intake manifold pressure sensor located?
The intake manifold pressure sensor is a sensor installed on the intake manifold gas pipe, of which three wires, one is for 5 volts, one is for 5 volts of the return route, that is, the negative line, and the other is a signal line for the Ecu.
The intake manifold pressure sensor is an extremely important type of sensor in Type D, that is, velocity density fuel injection systems, which plays the role of converting the pressure change in the intake manifold into a voltage signal.
The control computer (ECU) determines the amount of air entering the cylinder based on this signal and the engine speed (signal provided by the engine speed sensor installed in the distributor).
The intake pressure sensor detects the absolute pressure of the intake manifold behind the knot and valve, and it detects the change of absolute pressure in the manifold according to the engine speed and load.
It is then converted into a signal voltage and sent to an electronic controller (ECU), which controls the basic fuel injection amount according to the size of this signal voltage.
