Camshaft position sensor role.
Role of automotive camshaft position sensor:
1, the camshaft position sensor is to collect the camshaft dynamic Angle signal, and input the electronic control unit (ECU), in order to determine the ignition time and injection time, so the intake and exhaust are available;
2, so as to carry out sequential fuel injection control, ignition time control and deflagration control. In addition, the camshaft position signal is used to identify the first ignition moment when the engine starts. Because the camshaft position sensor can identify which cylinder piston is about to reach TDC, it is called the cylinder identification sensor;
3, the structure and working principle of camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor are basically the same, and usually installed together, but the installation position of each model is different, but it must be installed in the position of the precise transmission relationship with the crankshaft, such as the crankshaft, camshaft, flywheel or distributor;
4, simply use the crankshaft sensor ECU system has a special process to distinguish the ignition, to distinguish the cylinder ignition sequence, it is different from the method of using two sensors that is to say, the popular point is "count", the crankshaft runs "1-3-4-2" in a fixed number of revolutions. So the program can "count" the different firing cylinders at the same crankshaft Angle, so a single sensor is enough.
Camshaft position sensor is also known as cylinder identification sensor, in order to distinguish from the crankshaft position sensor (CPS), camshaft position sensor is generally represented by CIS. The function of the camshaft position sensor is to collect the position signal of the valve camshaft and input it to the ECU, so that the ECU can identify the top center of cylinder 1 compression, so as to carry out sequential fuel injection control, ignition time control and deflagging control. In addition, the camshaft position signal is used to identify the first ignition moment when the engine starts. Because the camshaft position sensor can identify which cylinder piston is about to reach TDC, it is called the cylinder identification sensor.
Camshaft sensor bad performance
01 Difficulty in starting the vehicle
The difficulty in starting the vehicle is an obvious manifestation of the fault of the camshaft sensor. The camshaft position sensor determines the ignition sequence of the engine. When it fails, the ignition sequence gets out of order, causing the engine to start with difficulty and sometimes not starting at all. This condition not only affects the starting performance of the vehicle, but also may cause further damage to the engine. Therefore, once it is found that the vehicle is difficult to start, you should check whether the camshaft sensor is working properly as soon as possible.
02 Acceleration weakness
The car's inability to accelerate is an obvious manifestation of the camshaft sensor damage. When the camshaft sensor fails, the ECU cannot accurately detect the camshaft position change. This will affect the intake and exhaust systems of the engine, resulting in a reduction in the intake and exhaust of the near-exhaust system. Because these key components do not work properly, the car will experience fatigue when accelerating, especially when the speed is less than 2500 RPM.
03 Increased fuel consumption
Increased fuel consumption is an obvious manifestation of camshaft sensor failure. When the camshaft sensor is faulty, the vehicle's computerized fuel system can become chaotic, causing the nozzle or injector to spray fuel out of order. This disordered injection state not only increases the fuel consumption of the vehicle, but also may cause the engine speed to be unable to improve, and the vehicle appears weak. Therefore, if an abnormal increase in vehicle fuel consumption is found, it may be a signal that the camshaft sensor is faulty.
04 Vehicle fault light
A vehicle fault light usually means that multiple sensors may be malfunctioning. Especially when the camshaft position sensor is damaged, this phenomenon is particularly obvious. Camshaft sensors are usually three-wire Hall sensors, including 12v or 5v power cables, signal cables and lapping cables. When the plug is pulled out and the engine is started, if there is no signal voltage output between the signal line and the base line, this usually means that the sensor is damaged. In this case, the vehicle failure light is likely to come on to remind the driver to carry out a detailed inspection.
05 The body shakes abnormally
Abnormal body shaking is an obvious manifestation of camshaft sensor failure. When there is a problem with the camshaft sensor, the engine control unit of the vehicle may not be able to accurately read the working state of the engine, resulting in unstable engine operation and abnormal body shaking. This jitter is usually more pronounced when the vehicle is accelerating or decelerating. In order to ensure driving safety, once such problems are found, professional inspection and maintenance should be carried out in time.
