The role of a car axle
The half shaft transmits power from the differential to the left and right driving wheels. The half shaft is a solid shaft that transmits large torque between the differential and the drive axle. Its inner end is generally connected with the half shaft gear of the differential by spline, and the outer end is connected with the wheel of the driving wheel by flange disc or spline. The half-shaft structure is different because of the different structural forms of the drive axle. The half-shaft in the non-broken open drive axle is the rigid full-shaft steering drive axle and the half-shaft in the broken open drive axle is connected by a universal joint.
Automobile axle structure
The half-shaft is used to transfer power between the differential and the driving wheels. The half-shaft is the shaft that transmits torque between the gearbox reducer and the driving wheel. In the past, most of the shafts were solid, but it is easier to control the unbalanced rotation of the hollow shaft. Now, many automobiles adopt the hollow shaft, and the half-shaft has a universal joint (UIJOINT) on its inner and outer ends, which is connected with the gear of the reducer and the inner ring of the wheel bearing through the spline on the universal joint
Type of automobile axle
According to the different bearing forms of axle axle and driving wheel on axle housing and the stress of axle, modern automobile basically adopts two forms: full floating axle and half floating axle. The half shaft of the ordinary non-broken open drive axle can be divided into full floating, 3/4 floating and half floating according to the different support forms of the outer end.
