What is a car cylinder mattress
Automotive cylinder mattress , also known as the cylinder head gasket, is an elastic sealing element installed between the engine cylinder block and the cylinder head. Its main function is to prevent the high-pressure gas, lubricating oil and cooling water inside the engine from escaping between the cylinder block and the cylinder head, to ensure the tightness and reliability of the engine .
Material and type
There are two main types of car cylinder mattress:

Installation position and function

Testing and maintenance methods
Check whether the cylinder mattress is damaged by the following methods:
Stethoscopy : start the engine, use one end of the rubber hose near the ear, and check the other end along the connection between the cylinder head and the cylinder block. If there is a deflating sound, the seal is not good .
observation method : Open the radiator cover and observe the radiator splash when the engine is idling. If the splash or bubble gush, it indicates that the seal is not good .
exhaust gas analyzer test method : Open the radiator cover, with the exhaust gas analyzer probe placed at the coolant filling outlet, rapid acceleration can detect HC, indicating that there is a problem with the seal .
The material of car cylinder mattress is mainly the following kinds :
Asbestos-free gasket : mainly made of copied paper and its composite board, low cost, but poor sealing, low temperature resistance, not suitable for high temperature and high pressure .
asbestos gasket : made of asbestos sheet and its composite board, the sealing property is general, but the high temperature resistance is better .
metal gasket : including low carbon steel plate, silicon steel sheet and stainless steel sheet made of metal gasket. The metal gasket made of low carbon steel plate has poor sealing, while the metal gasket made of silicon steel sheet or stainless steel sheet has good sealing and high temperature resistance, but low compression .
black ceramic gasket : made of black ceramic plate or flexible black ceramic sprint composite plate, good sealing, high temperature resistance, non-plane compensation ability, but the transportation and installation process is more difficult .
flexible black ceramic sprint composite board : This material of automotive cylinder pad has excellent performance in sealing, high temperature resistance and non-plane compensation ability, and is easy to install and use, is currently the ideal automotive cylinder pad material .
