Composition of car starter
A car starter mainly consists of the following parts :
DC motor : the core component of the starter, responsible for converting the electric energy of the battery into mechanical energy, driving the engine to start.
transmission mechanism : responsible for transmitting the rotating motion of the motor to the flywheel of the engine to make the engine start running.
electromagnetic switch : controls the start and stop of the motor, usually by the battery, ignition switch, starting relay and so on. Its working principle is to generate a magnetic field through the electromagnet coil, attract the contact arm to close, thus connecting the main circuit of the starter, so that the motor starts to work.
How it works :
Circuit connection : The circuit of the starter starts from the positive battery terminal, passes through the ignition switch, the starting relay, and finally reaches the electromagnetic coil and the holding coil of the starter. When the electromagnetic coil is energized, the core is magnetized, and the suction contact arm closes, connecting the current circuit of the suction coil and the holding coil.
motor start : after the suction coil is energized, the movable iron core moves forward to drive the drive gear to engage with the flywheel. After the motor switch is switched on, the holding coil continues to be energized, the movable core maintains the suction position, the main circuit of the starter is connected, and the motor starts to run.
gear off : when the engine starts to run, the starting relay stops working, the contact is opened, the suction coil circuit is disconnected, the movable iron core is reset, and the drive gear and the flywheel are out of engagement.
Through these components and working principles, the car starter can effectively start the engine of the car.

Battery supply system failure may be caused by low battery power, the main power supply of the car is insured or the relay is damaged, the cable and battery terminals of the starter are loose or the terminals are oxidized. The fault of the starting relay may be caused by short circuit, open circuit, ground problem of the inductor of the starting relay, or the gap between the starting relay core and the contact arm is too large.
