Brief introduction
Shock absorber is a vulnerable part in the process of automobile use. The working quality of shock absorber will directly affect the stability of automobile driving and the service life of other parts. Therefore, the shock absorber should always be in good working condition.
Fold edit the fault inspection of this section
1. Stop the car after traveling 10km on the road with poor road conditions, and touch the shock absorber shell with your hand. If it is not hot enough, it means that there is no resistance inside the shock absorber and the shock absorber does not work. At this time, appropriate lubricating oil can be added before the test. If the shell is hot, there is a lack of oil in the shock absorber, and enough oil should be added; Otherwise, the shock absorber fails.
2. Press the bumper firmly and release it. If the car jumps 2 ~ 3 times, it indicates that the shock absorber works well.
3. If the vehicle vibrates violently during slow driving and emergency braking, it indicates that there is a problem with the shock absorber.
4. Remove the shock absorber, put it upright, clamp the lower connecting ring on the Bench Vise, and pull and press the shock absorber rod several times. At this time, there should be stable resistance. The resistance to pull up should be greater than that when pressing down. If the resistance is unstable or no resistance, it may be lack of oil in the shock absorber or damage to valve parts, which should be repaired or replaced.

Description of working principle
Description of working principle of two-way acting cylindrical shock absorber. During the compression stroke, the vehicle wheel moves close to the vehicle body and the shock absorber is compressed. At this time, the piston 3 in the shock absorber moves downward. The volume of the lower chamber of the piston decreases, the oil pressure increases, and the oil flows through flow valve 8 to the chamber above the piston (upper chamber). The upper chamber is partially occupied by the piston rod 1, so the increased volume of the upper chamber is less than the reduced volume of the lower chamber. A part of the oil then pushes the compression valve 6 and flows back to the oil storage cylinder 5. The oil savings of these valves form the damping force of the compressed motion of the suspension. During the stretching stroke of the shock absorber, the wheel is far away from the vehicle body, and the shock absorber is stretched. At this time, the piston of the shock absorber moves upward. The oil pressure in the upper chamber of the piston increases, the flow valve 8 closes, and the oil in the upper chamber pushes the extension valve 4 into the lower chamber. Due to the existence of the piston rod, the oil flowing from the upper chamber is not enough to fill the increased volume of the lower chamber, which mainly causes the lower chamber to generate a vacuum. At this time, the oil in the oil reservoir pushes the compensation valve 7 to flow into the lower chamber for replenishment. Because of the throttling effect of these valves, they play a damping role in the extension movement of the suspension.
Because the stiffness and preload of the extension valve spring are designed to be greater than that of the compression valve, under the same pressure, the sum of the channel load areas of the extension valve and the corresponding normal passage gap is less than the sum of the channel cross-sectional areas of the compression valve and the corresponding normal passage gap. This makes the damping force generated by the extension stroke of the shock absorber greater than that of the compression stroke, so as to meet the requirements of rapid vibration reduction.
Shock absorber
Shock absorber is a vulnerable part in the process of automobile use. The working quality of shock absorber will directly affect the stability of automobile driving and the service life of other parts. Therefore, we should keep the shock absorber in good working condition. The following methods can be used to check whether the shock absorber works well.
Modern automobile shock absorbers are mainly hydraulic and pneumatic. Among them, hydraulic is widely used. Will be used with coil springs.
