What does the piston assembly include ?
The piston consists of piston crown, piston head and piston skirt:
1. Piston crown is an integral part of combustion chamber, which is often made into different shapes. For example, the piston crown of gasoline engine mostly adopts flat top or concave top, so as to make the combustion chamber compact and small heat dissipation area;
2. The part between the piston crown and the lowest piston ring groove is called the piston head, which is used to bear the gas pressure, prevent air leakage, and transfer the heat to the cylinder wall through the piston ring. The piston head is cut with several ring grooves to place the piston ring;
3. All parts below the piston ring groove are called piston skirt, which is used to guide the piston to make reciprocating motion in the cylinder and bear side pressure.
